| Testimony 1 |
Praveen Mathew
I grew up in a Christian family with the morally good
values. When I say morally good I mean we were doing all the
right things in the eyes of others. We became proper
Christians breaking the shackles of the early Orthodox Church
and realising what the sacrifice of Christ truly meant and
what it was to really live for him. This happened when my
father was miraculously healed from Spondylosis, a condition
of the spinal cord leading to physical handicap and slow
painful death, while I was in my 8th grade. At the age of 15 I
gave my life to Christ and took water baptism.
Being so young while meeting Christ was a double sided coin. I
was early into it which gave me more time to spend in the
light of the Lord and his will but was not mature enough to
understand my responsibilities or consequences. What can I say
I backslid at the age of 18 when I was pursuing my engineering
in Bangalore, the IT hub of India. Freedom, money, power,
pride and pleasure were in a disproportionate mixture
spreading vile poison into my mind clouding my judgement in
most instances. Even though I had everything that you can name
on a worldly list of pleasure and satisfaction my inner self
still longed for a peace and joy that waking up in a
stranger’s house with a hangover didn’t give.
But that is where the love of God came in and saved me a
second time. Through a friend He showed me that this is not
what will give me that but his undying love. I lost all that I
had when I decided to follow him. Fame, power, pleasure and
friends left me but I sleep with a smile on my face knowing
that I will stand on the other side with the only one person
who truly loves me. My Lord and my Saviour can give you what
he gave me all you have to do is ask us how. |
